Clothes ON. Pants UP. Hands OFF. Honor GOD.

Okay, I know that the title sounds a little too ambiguous and straight-to-the-point, but I just want to share to everyone what I have learned from a pastor in Victory Church.

I’m not knowledgeable in this matter, nor experienced. I’m just relating to you what our pastor told us. Nevertheless, I’m with him in this matter and your thoughts are greatly appreciated. :) And sorry if I’ll sound preachy.

As I already mentioned in my previous devotion, last Friday, I attended the FRIDAY NIGHT YOUTH of the Victory Church here. For this month, the topic every Friday is about LOVE, SEX, DATING and GOD. Last Friday’s was about SEX.

From someone who’s constantly bombarded with sexual and explicit material by media, I found this topic interesting. What does the Bible and God really say about sex? About pre-marital sex?

Nowadays, many people already consider sex as commonplace. I know some people who are die-hard Christians/ Catholics but for them sex is acceptable, as long as it’s within the context of not going too far. Or knowing one’s limits, aka USING PROTECTION.

Some do it for the fun, for the thrill, for stature, for ‘security’, curiosity, ignorance and other reasons.

But you know what? These are all EARTHLY, CARNAL, WORLDLY REASONS.

The pastor said, that regardless of what reason you have, if you commit sex without a purpose, without God’s purpose for it, then you’re just doing it for your own selfish reasons.

———————————————————————————————————————-

God wants us to enjoy sex, believe it or not. He planted that sexual desire in us so that someday, we might enjoy it, but in the PROPER TIME, PLACE AND WITH THE PROPER PERSON.

Before doing it, always ask yourself first:

Am I doing it for:

1. PROCREATION

2. EXCLUSIVITY

3. SPIRITUALITY

Because if not, then don’t do it. That is, if you really want to obey God and His commands.

  • God created sex mainly for procreation.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” (Genesis 1:27-28)

  • God intended sex to be a sacred act between a husband and his wife. Sex outside the marital context is not the kind of sex that God wants us to enjoy.

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. (Genesis 2:24)

  • Our body is God’s temple. We shouldn’t defile it nor do anything to it that’s outside the bounds of God’s commands. Our bodies were paid with a price, so we don’t really own our bodies.

“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.(1 Corinthians 6:20)

You might reason out: “But we’re really not having sex! We’re just kissing, some petting, some necking here and there…it’s not like we’re really doing IT.”

Ask yourselves these. How much of God’s promise do you want to have? How much do you want to be saved by His love? Of course, you want to have everything right? You want to be fully saved by Him.

How much are you willing to give up for Him? :)

Waiting for marriage/ the right time is also a way of being faithful to your future partner. <3 At least when that time comes, you don’t need to use protection anymore? :)) There are no more worries for unplanned pregnancies, sudden parenthood, the scare of STDs, social stigma and the like.

If he/ she is not God’s best for you, you’ll just regret giving him/ her your everything in the end.

Just wait for the fulfillment of God’s promise, because the wait will be totally worth it. <3

Sex is not shameless if committed with a purpose in mind.

“CLOTHES ON. PANTS UP. HANDS OFF. HONOR GOD.”

Have a blessed week! :) *If you want to talk more about this, or if you have different opinions regarding this topic, feel free to click that ‘ASK’ button! :)
