Have you ever thought of rebelling against your parents because they are too strict and they don’t give what you demanded?

Maybe, most of us do. I do. Sometimes I think that my parents are overruling me so much and never really cared about me. Sometimes, I think that my parents only value what they want and not what I want. Sometimes, I think they don’t love me because they’re too hard on me.

But I was all wrong.

Matthew 15:4 says, For God said, ‘Honour your father and mother’ and ‘Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.

It rebuked me. It opened my eyes. The Lord taught me to value my parents. He taught me that I misunderstood all the things my parents are doing for me.

Just like God, our parents won’t do anything that could harm us. All they think about is for the betterment of our lives. That is unconditional love. Despite of our attitudes towards them, they still love us and accept us.

Treat their strictness as a discipline to us.

Treat their ‘discouragement’ as an encouragement.

Love them dearly as they have loved us so much.

They are God’s destined people who will lead us to Him. Let us always show affection and overflowing love to our parents! God bless your family! ♥
