Some Facts about the Bible
I’m dedicating today’s entry in giving all of you some random FYIs about our favorite book, the Bible:
1. The Bible was written by various people.
2. It is divided into two main sections: the New Testament and the Old Testament.
3. It tells us of God’s greatness, Jesus’ life here on earth and after His resurrection and God’s word and will.
4. The first section of the Bible, the Old Testament is composed of 39 books.
5. The Old Testament can also be referred to as ‘Old Covenant’.
6. The Old Testament begins with Genesis and ends with Malachi.
7. The Old Testament can also be divided into 4 different sections: Law, History, Poetry and Prophecy.
8. All the books in Law are written by Moses, all the books in History tell the story of Israel, Poetry is composed of songs and poetic verses and Prophecy contains revelations and predictions about Christ and His coming kingdom- which were written by God’s greatest prophets.
9. The Old Testament is governed by the law given to Moses, The Ten Commandments.
10. The New Testament can be called the ‘The New Covenant’.
11. The New Testament has 27 books.
12. The New Testament begins with Matthew and ends with Revelations.
13. The New Testament was written by 8 people only, to whom Christ entrusted His word.
14. The New Testament is divided into 4 books: Gospels, History, Epistles and Prophecy.
15. Gospels tells of the story of Christ, from His birth up to His death. History tells of the establishment of Christ’s church after His death. Epistles is composed of various letters of selected apostles to different people and churches. Lastly, Prophecy shows us the events that will take place in the future, although some events here have already happened now.
16. The News Testament is about the new promise that Christ made with God. From hereon, the old Law of Moses is already null and void.

Bottomline is: Reading and learning about the Bible is one of the most satisfying activities ever. :) Nothing is greater and more rewarding than knowing God’s will and His plan for all of us in the future.
