The Strongest Foundation
Which do you prefer, a house built on a rock or a house built on sand?
Being a Civil Engineering student entails a lot of hard work and determination. Aside from facing a lot of math problems (Yes, MATH PROBLEMS), you’ll also need to exercise your critical thinking for the rest of your stay in school. Despite these, I am still determined to continue my schooling. Well, it’s because I’m finally living my dream.
Studying the fundamentals of building structures.
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always wanted to build my dream house. As I got older, my dream hadn’t changed, in fact it just improved:
To build my dream house and the dream house of others.
Aside from building my own dreams, I also want to help others build theirs.
One of the greatest lessons a Civil Engineer could learn is when building, you should be able to make the strongest foundation of a structure to keep it firm and well-built. And I learned this from Jesus.
He said that a wise builder will construct his house on a rock while a foolish one will build his house on the sand. Because the house built on a rock will never be ruined by any means, unlike the house built on the sand that can easily be destroyed.
We can relate ourselves to a house and the kind of foundation we have. If we are living by the words of God, we are like a house built on a rock because if we are founded by God’s word, we will never be shaken nor be moved. We are the strongest and well-built house if we have God as our foundation. But if we don’t live by the words of God, we are foolish builders; we have the frailest and weakest foundation. The evil can easily penetrate us and control us and that can lead to our downfall.
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” (Matthew 7:24-27)
Let us start to build our house on the rock and let God be our foundation. ♥
