Baby Steps
FACT: Most of us think that it’s ALREADY enough to believe in Him.
FACT: Most of us want to get closer to GOD.
But don’t really know how.
—————————————————————————————————————————
I’m no expert in this, since I’m also still in the process of finding God and starting my own personal relationship with Him. Still, I think I can somehow help you jump start your OWN relationship with the Lord, in these 4 ways. ;)
1. Never stop praying. (Ephesians 6:18)
—Set a quiet time everyday for the Lord. Pray after waking up. Thank Him for another chance at life. Pray before meals. These are blessings that the Lord gave you. Pray before going to sleep because He kept you safe all day. Praying is a very simple activity, and yet, most of us find it hard to do it regularly. Little, short prayers throughout your day is good, but remember to still allot even 15-30 minutes of your day to silent, meditative prayer every morning and/ or night. God gave us 24 hours a day, let’s give even just an hour back to Him. <3
2. Read the Bible. (John 1:1)
—Reading the Bible is one of those activities that I only recently started. In my 17 years as a Catholic, I had seldom read the Bible. I believe that this is one of those activities that we Christians tend to overlook. We have this stereotype that only old ladies or religious zealots should read the Bible. We content ourselves with just re-posting and sharing Bible verses over the internet, which is not enough if you ask me. It’s really different if you read God’s word from the Bible itself.
The Word of God is God itself. Meditate on it. If you’re too busy to attend your church’s Bible studies, then look for some online. Remember, regardless of how you do it, what’s important is that YOU do it. In your own pace, and in your own time. For me, I make it a point to study the Bible regularly, and read at least 5 chapters a day. I even highlight those parts that I like the most, or save those wonderful Bible verses in a document in my computer. No one can really tell you how to do these things. It’s just up to you to act upon them. It will also help you if you write devotions. Liked a story from the Bible? Read it again and write your own interpretation on it. This will help you understand it better and apply it to your life.
3. Be active in your church. (John 13:35)
—Whatever religious denomination you belong into, remember to be active in it. Attend worship services every Sunday. By doing this, you automatically allot an hour or two to God. Sing for God. Dance for God. Worship and praise Him along with everyone else. Give tithes. The amount of money you give is immaterial. It’s the thought that comes along with giving that God looks into. Join a ministry in order to fully serve God.
Share your talents. Utilize them for Him. Get to know your church members, your family. Love them, cherish them, minister to them. It’s fulfilling to worship God by yourself, but it’s more rewarding to worship Him with a family of brothers and sisters. Your love for God will manifest on how much you care for others. Be a modern-day disciple.
4. Serve others. Do good deeds. (Philippians 1:11)
—Remember the story of ‘The Good Samaritan’? When you serve others, you also serve God. Win over people. Minister to them. Get them close to God too. Every day, make an effort to smile at people, to do good to them even without expecting something in return. As what the motto of the girl scouts say: “Do a good turn daily.” It’s not that hard actually. :) Help a stranger cross the street. Give food to someone who needs it. Go out of your way to help your classmate in school. All these little things actually make us get closer and closer to God.
When you do good to others, you also do good to God. Make disciples. Honor God.<3

I told you I’m no expert in this. I can’t say that I have fully mastered and done all these ways. But these are the key words: IN YOUR OWN TIME. God will always be just waiting for you to return to Him. All these baby steps lead to an ultimately bigger one. Like a domino effect, the rest will undoubtedly follow. <3
Transform from glory to glory. <3
